In this book the author recounts his road to recovery, from being shot down in flames as the pilot of a Fairey Battle in May 1940, through 18 months of hospitalisation in France and then Vichy France. Eventually considered strong enough to return to England via Spain and Gibraltar, he became one of the 'Guinea Pig Club' members and his path of recovery is recorded here.
