A decade mainly concerned with the Second World War and its effects on life in the 1940s. Contemporary photographs on life at war and home, children, sport and leisure. Those on the war include the first sight of what was happening in Belsen, the parading of collaborators in France, queueing for water, queueing for soup, children being deloused with chemical sprays, the devastation left by shells and air raids. With captions in English Chinese and Japanese.
