The role of Britain's Auxilliary Ambulance service in WWII London & other cities is largely undocumented - no other wartime service, from the 'Bevin Boys' to the Land Army has been so totally ignored. From 130 stations, 10,000 volunteers tended to the injured, often at the height of the bombing, & carried away the mutilated & dismembered bodies of the dead. This is the human story of London's Auxilliary Ambulance Station 39 told from personal recollections & contemporary photographs
