The role of the Convoy Commodore of World War II. He was the man, often a retired admiral or senior merchant marine captain, who commanded the groups of merchant ships crossing the oceans in WWII in the face of U-Boat and Luftwaffe threats. These men and their brave crews faced the carnage of the Nazi 'Wolf-Pack' attacks and shepherded their charges safely through the North Atlantic and the Arctic Seas.
