He was senior member of the British organisation that ran the operation of finding, turning and then running almost every Nazi agent to penetrate the British Isles. On a daily or weekly basis, the committee had to decide what information to leak to the enemy should they seek to mislead, or divulge truthful intelligence in order to build the enemy's confidence.
