Mass market paperback. Pages browning. Good. On 3 July, 1940 units of the Royal Navy under Admiral Sommerville attacked and largely destroyed the French Fleet as it lay at it's mooorings at Mers-el-Kebir. Until two weeks before the French and the British had been allies but the British government ordered the action to stop the fleet falling into German hands. The result was the death of 1,300 French sailors - a 'Greek Tragedy' as Churchill put it.
