Originally published in 1976 as 'Hit First, Hit Hard', this is the story of the Royal Navy battle-cruiser, HMS Renown. Originally built for the First World War, she was modernised just in time for World War Two. She escorted the carrier Ark Royal for most of her illustrious career as flagship of Force 'H' in the Mediterranean, and covered Russian convoys in the Arctic. She then sailed for the Indian Ocean where she took part in attacks on Japanese targets. Renown was the venue for the meeting between King George VI and President Harry S Truman in 1945.
