Much copied but never really surpassed, this seminal work by William Green (who would later give us the incomparable "Air Enthusiast") and John Fricker (of "Flight International" fame) describes the "history, development" as well as the "present (1958) strength" of all the world's air arms.
It is true that there are quite a few errors (the OOBs of some Central American states for example, are for the most part fictional), however the basic historical information is sound and it really is worth sourcing this book if only to see how many later works have been "inspired" from if not blatantly plagiarized its content.
An added bonus are the excellent photographs as the authors clearly had an eye for the unusual (hint, hint). (Amazon review)
