Most of this volume was originally printed in three Military Intelligence Division manuals of the U.S. war Department. These were titled as Order of Battle and Handbooks of the Bulgarian, Hungarian and Rumanian Armed Forces. Information was current up to early 1944. The editor acknowledges that the accuracy and compilation of this material is to be credited to the unknown military writers that prepared the material for use in the conduct of war. Most of the original text has not been removed or changed. Editing concentrated on reducing bulk without sacrificing content, although an attempt has been made to eliminate errors and add information through 1945.
