This volume is the story of Pape's journey to discover the fates, sometimes appallingly tragic, of the people who helped him after he was shot down in Holland in 1941. It tells too how he tracked down the traitor who sent his friends to death and reveals a grim trail of torture in concentration camps, of firing squads, great heroism and ultimate forgiveness.
