The author, a journalist, describes Churchill and his actions through the Second World War. He describes the origins of the 'siren suit' and the miracle of Dunkirk when many Whitehall civil servants joined the small boats flotillas to save the men on the beaches. Anecdotes, and events that he was witness too, make this an interesting read.
