The author has written an enthralling account of her war-time occupation as a Director/Finding operator in the WAAF's during World War II, when she and her colleagues kept a 24-hour vigil, taking bearings on the voice transmission of pilots, with priority given to Mayday distress calls. It is a unique story, related in an unemotional manner from incidents in her wartime diaries and further authenticated by research of RAF records.
