One of the most successful British Generals, Kitchener's adventurous early activities took him to The Sudan and South African Wars. He became C in C India and Secretary of State for War in WWI. A meticulous planner and a commander who fought his battles from the forefront, he took some blame for the tragedy in the Dardanelles. An intimidating enigma, Warner looks at the myths as well as the public man.
