Sir Christopher Wren's epitaph in St. Paul's Cathedral advises visitors, si monumentum requirs circumspice- if you would see his momentum, look around. Sadly visitors to Brooklands or Kingston-on-Thames seeking great Hawker Company's monument must look around diligently. Only a small corner of the original Canbury Park Road office block has survived the chain-and-ball attacks of the demolition gangs. For more seventy years the affairs of Hawker were inextricably linked with Kingston. The Company was regarded as a compassionate and caring employer and a community partner.
