Excellent publication by HMSO during the Second World War aimed at raising the morale of those at home who were in the 'Front Line' as a result of the activities of the Luftwaffe. It gives a history of the Blitz from 1940-1941 and gives details of the role of the Civil Defence Forces in countering the threats the country faced, and you have to bear in mind that the majority of the people in Civil Defence at that time were volunteers and frequently laid, (and gave) their lives on the line.
