The pilot was one of many high school graduates that trained to become pilots and, at the tender age of 19, found himself in charge of a crew setting out to make their contribution to the war effort. Training was minimal and accidents frequent, as he takes us from Canada, to Europe, the Middle East and Burma. A fascinating read.
