Written in 1836 in Greenwich, this is an account of the author's first 8 years in the Royal Navy. His service on the Romney took him to India, and then the Mediterranean before Trafalgar. He was half-brother to William Huskisson, the railway's first casualty, who was run over by George Stephenson's locomotive engine Rocket!
