Danish Uniforms from the Army and Navy (1911)The images represent some of the colour plates from 'Danish Uniforms of the Army and Navy', illustrated by the Danish artist Rasmus Christiansen (1863–1940) and published in 1911 with the approval of the Danish War and Navy Ministries.
The series, printed around 1911, depicts the appearance of Denmark's military just before the outbreak of World War I. Each plate shows detailed, hand-coloured renderings of uniforms from the Royal Danish Army and the Royal Danish Navy , accompanied by separate sheets illustrating caps, sleeve insignia, and shoulder distinctions.
The images measure approximately 23.5 cm by 16 cm and present meticulously drawn figures that highlight the precise colors, ranks, and stylistic elements of early-20th-century Danish military dress.
This scarce original item from 1911 is totally intact and in fact all the internal plates are undamaged, clean, clear and bright, and are arranged in a concertina fashion, one plate per fold (16 in total). The cover which is constructed from stiff card shows minimal wear but for the brown tape which has been applied to the spine to strengthen it.
