An account of the famous battle fought in the Peninsular War in January 1809. Doggedly pursued by the French under Marshal Jean-de-Dieu Soult, the British made an epic retreat across northern Spain, finally arriving at Corunna, only to find that their transport ships had not arrived. During the battle, Sir John Moore, the British commander, was mortally wounded, dying after hearing that all the French attacks had been repulsed.
