here is the story of the memorable raid on the Amiens Prison, led by Group captain Charles Pickard DSO, DFC. Under his command attacking Mosquitos and Mustangs flew in low on the prison where hundreds of 'political' prisoners were awaiting execution. With masterly precision the RAF dropped their bombs, demolishing the walls of the prison. By the time the Gestapo reinforcements arrived on the scene, dozens of Resistance prisoners had made their escape.
