The book is written primarily in a narrative style and succeeds in being a very readable and enjoyable account of Mussolini's life. The sources primarily stem from the direct correspondence between Mussolini and his associates and as such the biography does an admirable job of conveying the personality of its subject. To this extent the book is much more enjoyable than some of the dry analyses out there that neglect to take into account the character of Mussolini which is, as I can say after reading this book, endlessly fascinating (if only for the fact that he was evidently a lunatic).
