German text, hardcover volume.
On January 25, 1945, the Ferryboat, Albatros entered the Kiel Canal to Konigsberg to help rescue the population from the horror of the war and the advance of the Soviet armies.
When, after days, the action 'Rescue by Sea' ended, more than two million soldiers and refugees had been brought to the West by the Albatross and a further 790 ships. The albatross then returned to its home port of Flensburg.
This book captivates in an exciting way the dramatic action of the small ship and its crew.
